I spent a lot of time posting lots of pictures today so I don't have time to write much in the journal. Oh well, as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words! Please check them out and let us know what you think. I think that the pictures and their captions are probably at least as interesting as my journal entries and I really do not have time to journal, answer the questions, do some field work, post pictures, and get some rest! I am keeping a daily accounting of what goes on, but there will be time to organize all that and embed various pictures when our journey ends. For now, enjoy the pictures and I will post what I can, when I can, relying on students to fill in the gaps!
We have really appreciated the feedback we are getting. I hope to post some of the questions Caleb's dad e-mailed us and provide some answers about the fishing, etc. real soon. Those of you who are watching our site, please let us know what you think and ask some questions. You can ask specific or general questions of anyone here! All these will become an important part of and contribute to the curriculum development phase of the project that will occur over the next few months. We like the feedback! It inspires us to take and post pictures and write in our journals. You can even request that individual participants provide excerpts from their journals. If they know they will be read they just might comply.
Phil is our resident meteorologist, whom we count on to predict the weather ---cold, rainy, and windy seems to be his most accurate prediction since that is what we have most days! He just informed us that the temperature has recently dropped to around 1 degree Celsius and we can probably look forward to some snow here real soon. That is here at the base camp, so conditions in the field might present a bit of a challenge tomorrow.
We hope that you are all safe and happily enjoying the end of your summer. Families and friends are missed and talked about often. We are enjoying our work but we also are looking forward to our eventual return! We are all safe and healthy, though some leftover fish from the other night, grabbed up for lunch, has caused some momentary distress for a few! But alas . . .all things eventually pass and this shall, too! |
