What kind of clothes do you have to wear in order to be warm? Does your breath freeze in the air? If you spit, does it freeze before it even hits the ground? Is this the coldest weather you've ever been in? What is the average temperature? Did your family get to come with you?

Hi- Thanks for emailing your questions. There is tons of arctic gear I have to wear to keep warm. You really have to be careful to have as little exposed skin as possible. I have an arctic parka as well as a fleece jacket on the top, and I wear fleece pants under arctic snowpants as well. I have really good snowboots, and a shield that covers most of my face. If it is windy, like it is today, it is helpful to wear ski goggles as well. Believe it or not, all this arctic gear keeps you really toasty warm!
Actually, now that it is spring, the temperatures are not that cold. It's pretty much like a really cold winter day in Wisconsin. Today it is about -7 degrees farenheit. It was much, much colder about a month ago. One thing we don't get in Wisconsin are the strong winds. They are strong enough today that it is -61 degrees farenheit with the windchill!! That is definitely colder than I've ever felt. Right now it is starting to warm up and the temperatures should stay in the -10 degree range. That's really not so bad- unless its windy, of course!

My family had to stay home. I would have loved to bring them with me, I miss them very much. But this would be a very difficult place for kids to be. You have to be so careful everytime you go outside! Getting here is hard work, too (check my journal for more info on that).

Hope this answers your questions!
