Well, I found out that I am, in fact, breathing (barely) at 4:00 a.m. I had a taxi pick me up and take me to Stratton Air Base, and I was there by 5:15. Once there, I checked in, and put my bag in the cargo bin. We waited for a while, and then loaded the herc-130.

Riding in a herc-130 was an awesome experience. It sure is different than commercial flights! We sat in hammock seats, and everyone got earplugs. The plane is so loud that you really do need them. You really can't talk to anyone, because they can't hear you (Cory and Carra- try being quiet for 6 hours!!! You thought your bet was tough:))

It was a good flight, but weird, too. It is odd to be sitting face to face in close quarters with strangers, can't talk to them, but unless you have a book or something, there is nothing to do but stare at them!!! I didn't like how little the windows were. They were tiny little portals, and I would have loved to have looked out a window the whole way, since we flew much lower than commercial airliners fly.

Once in Kanger, we went to the KISS facility, which is a dorm-type facility. I got my bags, got settled in, and met some more people. We had an awesome dinner of salad, fried rice, and grouper (fish- and yes, Mom, I ate it!!! Even had seconds:)) We had some interesting dinner conversations. It was a great way to start to get to know some of the people here.

Right now it is after 10:00p.m, and the sun is just setting. That will take some getting used to! I guess it comes up around 4:30 right now.

Well, I better get to bed. These folks seem to be morning people- not night owls like me. That's going to take some adjustment, also....

Talk to you soon
