On your home page it says you are studying moisture flux models for the tundra. Is that like the water cycle?

It is part of the water cycle. Moisture flux is the movement of the water in a direction, either up or down. Models on the tundra are dealing with the land part of the water cycle, moving up and down between the soil and vegetation, and the atmosphere.
