Why are you taking samples mostly around rich and organic matter?

Where is "Old Woman's Creek"? Why did you choose to go there?

Miles,

thanks for the questions!

re: Old Woman Creek
Old Woman Creek is a protected estuary located on the southern shore of Lake Erie, about 2.5 hours north of Columbus and 1 hour west of Cleveland. Because it is protected, scientists can conduct research that would be hard or impossible elsewhere.

See http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/dnap/location/oldwoman_creek.html for more information about what makes the estuary so special.

Next fall, Dr. Chin, another teacher and I are working on a project with our students at Old Woman Creek. The May 26 posting was our practice run.

re: nutrient-rich sampling sites
I have a guess, but I am not entirely sure... I'll have to get back to you on this one.

Cheers,
