Not much, how have you been? Happy to face another summer in South
Texas?

-The water ranges between 0 and -2 degrees Celcius, which is below
normal freezing temperature.

-Yeah, sometimes we have to travel hundreds of miles through the ice to
get to our next sampling station. The Healy, icebreaker, does not go
too fast especially while breaking through ice so it takes up to 24 - 36
hrs to travel the distance. When we have that much down time it can get
boring. You can only spend so much time watching the boat crush through
ice. I read a lot and they have satelite TV, so a bunch of us guys have
been watching the NBA playoffs.

Yes, I plan to. I will probably be present in the begininning of the
year (Mr. Cummings class mainly but I could visit some others - maybe a
chemistry lab or two).

Depends where in Alaska.... remember that Alaska is a huge state (much
larger than Texas - it covers about 1/3 the continental US). Where I
went, Anchorage and Nome, gas was about $2 and $2.45 a gallon
respectively.
Talk to you later,
Craig |
