I saw the eagles in your pictures. How are they able to survive in the Arctic?

Hi John,
The birds in my pictures are seabirds called kittiwakes. I have also
seen other seabirds called alcids. Alcids refers to a group of birds
that swim using their wings in the same way penguins swim. Unlike
penguins, alcids can also fly. They are relatively small, heavy birds
so they must beat their wings fast to stay aloft. I have not seen an
eagle. However, there are species of eagles, hawks and falcons that do
inhabit terrestrial areas of Alaska.
