Things are going to get a little slower than they have been for the next couple of days. The science is just about done, and everyone is getting ready to start packing up. Today, I spent a good chunk of the day working with Donna. You’ll remember that she is the researcher who has very labor- intensive equipment that measures the amount of formaldehyde (HCOH) and peroxides present in the snow.
Since she has so much equipment including chemicals to dispose of, I ran her last set of samples for her while she worked on disposing of chemicals.
When I left there, I came back to the big house to cut apples for Sarah, the cook. She needed lots and lots of apples cut so she could make pies for next week’s dinner. She is working on next week already, because on Monday a plane is bringing several new researchers, and we do not leave until Thursday. That means that for three days, there will be almost twice as many people to cook for!
After dinner, (pizza-yum) I had to help with the dishes and cleaning up. This is because on Monday, it is my day to “mouse.” That means that I will be responsible for cleaning up the big house, and doing the day’s dishes. When it is the day before you mouse, you are supposed to help the mouse of that day (Sundays don’t count). |
