This morning is another beautiful day here at Toolik Lake. The team has gone up to the test plots to finish weeding the mosses, and to begin fertilizing with nitrogen. I've stayed back in the lab to work on journals and figure out how to get some pictures attached to the web page.
I'd much rather be outside, but I realize that sharing my experience with the masses is also very important.
What I'm going to try to attach is a picture of a sedge that is very common to the tussock tundra called Eriophorum--or cotton grass. By looking at the flower, one can tell how it got its common name.
This is taken from inside the lab as we get ready to head up to the test plots.
