So, last night after sending my journal and doing a couple of Russian lessons, it was approaching midnight. Max brought up the suggestion of going down to the river to check it out at midnight and we all got ready to go. It was still very pleasant outside (temperature wise) and the sun was shining. The lighting on the river was stunning. Here is what it was like at midnight on the Lena River.
Although we are all looking forward to certain things once we leave Zhigansk (I, for one, can’t wait to have a piece of fruit or a vegetable!) we are all getting a little sad that our time in Zhigansk is coming to an end. Today, we will do our last shore sampling, and at 5:00 p.m. there is a farewell type performance at the school (we don’t really know what to expect). After that, Agatha (our friend who had us to her house when Max had to wear the small slippers) has prepared a picnic for us to celebrate Oliver’s birthday (which was June 6). He doesn’t know about it though—it will be a true surprise (and not just for him) what will happen at this picnic party!
Be sure to check out the added photo to our Lena River Shoreline comparison web page:
