Hey. I bet it's really fun out there. I had a question about something you were talking about in one of your journal entries. You said something about how you were studying natural microwave signals, what are these, and what is thier purpose. I hope you are enjoying your trip.

I'm enjoying my trip very much. There are so many researchers around here, that I'm trying to learn many things. Have you heard of the electromagnetic spectrum? I know you've heard of parts of it, like x-rays, radio waves, ultra violet, and even the visible light that we see. Microwaves are part of this group of waves. Microwaves have a long wave length. We tend to think of microwaves as an oven you cook with, because that's what we know about in our everyday world, and you can't see them. But we can't see x-rays either, and yet the information we get from them when we use a machine that can detect them is useful, like a picture of a fractured bone. If you have the right kind of instrument to see microwaves they can give you useful information also. Mrs. Bejin |
