Laurie Carr Studies Tundra Biodiversity in Alaska
5 June - 24 June 2004

TREC teacher Laurie Carr visited the arctic tundra north of the Brooks Range in Alaska. Laurie helped with identifying arctic plants and worked with experimental plots around the Toolik Field Station alongside Michelle Mack from the University of Florida and the other research team members in order to investigate how arctic plants might respond to global change. This ongoing research focuses on understanding how changes in biodiversity affect the responses of arctic ecosystems to factors such as climate warming or nitrogen pollution.
