On the tundra, there are a lot of birds nesting right now. I have seen many kinds of sandpipers and some with little bitty chicks that you can hardly see because of their camouflage. I have also seen an arctic fox, a walrus on the beach (it was dead, though), lots of ducks, plovers, gulls and jaegers (all kinds of birds).
As far as plants go, there is mostly mosses, lichens, small tundra plants and a few scrubby flat shrubs. No trees or anything remotely like trees, here. The tundra appears to be flat, but is actually full of mounds and bumps. Some are caused by the expansion of the water beneath it when the ground freezes and they look like big mounded up souffles that have cracked as they expanded. A lot of the tundra flowers are starting to bloom, so there are little yellow and white and purple flowers coming out.
I have put some pictures of the animals and plants in the photo album. Take a look!
