Day 23: Computers, Relaxing

Woke up at a very nice hour today. I missed breakfast of course, but made it up at 1030, enough time to get my stomach straightened out for lunch. Today was very laid-back for me. We were pushing for a station that we wouldn't reach until tomorrow, so I had no real obligations. Mr. Buckley and I went ahead and did fluorometer arial of Polar Sea in fogreadings for the samples we had prepared yesterday, and I helped out with Mr. Buckley preparing various digital photos for the Polar Sea webpage. I delivered the disks and offered my "expertise." I designed webpages for Ilisagvik College in Barrow, Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, University of Maine at Presque Isle, and University of Maine Orono -- which gives me a little experience to back up my offer to help. The gal that was given the task of preparing it, was collecting pictures and "stories" in exchange for Polar SBC cards. I hope I get a cut out of it, since Mr. Buckley submitted one or two pictures that I shot (one was an aerial of the boat).

After all of that, I pretty much hung out for the rest of the day. I went to work out after dinner, and then did my nightly polar bear watch after that. I didn't see any, so I went back inside to get warm, and get mid-rats. A while ago I had requested some time to record some stuff from Lance's ROV archives, and tonight he gave me a tape which he recorded himself. An incredibly nice thing for him to do -- he is looking very tired, from the late nights he is pulling, and it must've been a fairly low-priority project, that required a fair chunk of time. I am very grateful... I can't wait to see it when I get home.
