I am learning about the carbon cycle and how carbon is transported from the continental shelves into the ocean basins. I have also learning that "global warming" is occurring at different rates for different places in the world. Additionally, I am learning about different types of ice and how the Healy pushes a path through and around ice floes.

I have seen walrus, polar bears, kittiwakes, pigeon guillemots, and glaucous gulls.
