Hi Dan - I have not seen any live seals. I thought I saw a nose peaking
from the water, but I wouldn't want to declare it was a seal.

Hi Jacob and Nick - Under the microscope I saw two copepods push off
each other but thats probably not what you were thinking about. No
large animal fights yet.

Teresa wants to know if it is scary?
Hi Teresa - It is different here. If I was alone I think it would be
scary, but I am with great people who have lots of arctic experience so
I know I am very safe.

Shane wants to know what the polar bears reaction was to your presence?
Hi Shane - Different polar bears react differently. The first polar
bear I saw did not appear to be too happy about us. The polar bear I
saw last night came to check us out. Maybe it thought we would be
tasty.

Hi Stacy - You are asking the same questions several of the scientists
are trying to answer. I have seen microscopic algae in the water samples
from 10 m and 30 m below the surface and I have seen macroscopic ice
algae growing on the bottom of the ice floes. - Imagine how much algae
there must be in the world.

Mr. Duke wants to know... how is the food?
Hi Mr. Duke - The food is great. The cooks work really hard and prepare
wonderful meals four times a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner and midnight
rations called midrats.

We were wondering how the algae lives in such cold water?
