It looks like it is the remains of a seal. Seals are an important food
source for polar bear. How do you think a polar bear catches a seal?

Hi Ms Collins - the orange mustang suit is a personal floatation devise
and it provides good wind and weather protection. I would guess it
weighs about ten pounds. Sorry...no king crab.

Hi Jennifer - it is amazing here. There is so much to learn and do.
Last night I went on a helicopter recon ride. THAT WAS GREAT! I told
the pilot I loved turning and so he made sure we turned a lot. Yes, I am
having fun.

Hi Caleb - I do not know how big the polar bears are. I cannot get onto
the net. Can you find out for me and let me know? They look really
big. About 1 AM this morning a polar bear decided to check out the
Healy. It came about 50 yards from the ship.

Hi Taylor - No one has fallen in the water. Many precautions are used
to avoid such an accident. The water temperature here is below freezing
so there is only a short survival time for anyone who fell into the
water.

Hi Jenny - I do not usually get sea sick, but as a precaution I wore a
sea sick patch when I first got on the Healy. The patch gave me blurry
vision so I took it off. So far, I am doing OK without it.

species?

Hi Alyssa - I have not heard of anyone discovering a new species during
the cruise. However, I am seeing species I have not seen before. Last
night we found a sea cucumber in the mud. It was really small - less
than the size of your little finger. It is not a new species, but I
found it very interesting.

Hi Travis - I am far enough north that there is 24 hour light so I have
not seen the Northern Lights.
