What is the temperature where you are now?

Are you able to communicate directly from you research site?

Would these possibly be the same snow geese that migrate through Mud Lake, Idaho in March?

Hi Lynette,

Thanks for logging on!

I haven't left Barrow yet, but it was 35 degrees this morning at about 8 am. Yesterday, it got up to the mid-40's but today looks much more overcast.

I hope everything works well when I get out to the site. I uploaded an entry via satellite phone from my back porch this morning and it worked. Very slow, but it worked! I should be able to reach this website and read and reply to messages and questions. So, keep them coming!

It could be the same snow geese. The population that flies through Idaho I believe is the western arctic population. I think most of them migrate to the Wrangell Island area in Russia. However, some of the snow geese that nest in the Canadian arctic may be moving west. The banding project that I will be helping with in early August is supposed to answer that question exactly. I'll let you know more about what I learn from that experience.

Thanks for the questions and check back often! I hope it's not getting too hot in Idaho. Enjoy your summer!
