The water in the Bering Sea has ranged from -1.75°C to -0.25°C in the path we have traveled on this cruise. To put the Celsius measurements into perspective, fresh water freezes at 32°F which is 0°C. Salt water freezes at a lower temperature depending on how much salt there is. My friend who is a physical oceanographer, Markus Janout, helped me answer this question. (Thanks, Markus!)
