Hi Patty,

I have read that some people are contemplating building a tunnel under the Bering Sea to connect the railways of Russia with those of the US. While I don't see why there would be much demand for travel via train via such a tunnel, I wonder if you have heard about this and know if it is a real possibility. Furthermore, I suspect this would have some negative environmental consequences for the Bering Sea Ecosystem. Here is a website with some info on the tunnel: http://www.arctic.net/~snnr/tunnel/

If you happen to have heard about this and have any thoughts on it, I would be interested.

Dear Toro,
Wow -- You must have done a lot of research to learn about this project! I don't imagine that it is a very popular idea or one that is well publicized! You are right: I am sure the environmental consequences would be very large for such little reward.
