Is it taking you a long time to walk the half mile to your research area? Why is it so far away?

Hi Brett, it takes us about 10 minutes to walk through the snow to get to our satellite camp. We don't want to be too close to the main camp because the main camp has machines that run and add some pollution in the air. Some of the machines that add pollution to the air are the generators (that generate electricity), snowmobiles, and snow tractors. Since we are studying the particles that are floating in the air, we don't want to taint our results with the pollution coming from the camp. In fact, Gayle has designed a computer program that stops the instruments from measuring the particles in the air everytime the wind is blowing from the main camp to our satellite camp. I wish I were as smart as Gayle.!
When we start studying the particles that land on the snow, we will go 10 to 30 kilometers away from the camp to make sure our results are not messed up from the pollution from the camp. In case you forgot, 5 kilometers is about 3.1 miles.
