Hi Mrs. Kaden smile.gif,

How have you been, I hope that your expedition has been great. Everything has been o.k. over here, although it has been pretty hot. I just have a question for the moment - have you had any solar interferences due to solar effects or any other astronomical factors.

Best wishes you and the crew. Have fun! Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Humberto,

Nice hearing from you. We have some excellent scientists aboard that dial with communications and also with properties of snow, sea ice , albedo, radiation from the sun. At the moment we are dealing more with calculating the exact time when the satellites pass over us so we can get visible and infra red Satellite photos to determine the sea ice conditions. If we hit the wrong spot with high pressure ridges we could get stuck or damage the ship. The ships communication system and navigation depends on Satellites. Sometimes we are not able to establish a connection to some of them which could have different causes. One may be the sun activity. I will find out more about this topic for you.

In which physics class are you? Are you working on your science project already?

Best regards,

U. Kaden
