[FONT=Arial] wink.gif wink.gif wink.gif Hey Mr. Crumrine How is the weather in Alaska? Do you know how much ozone has been destoryed over Alaska? I was just wondering because well we just did a thing where it said how much ozone was lost over Antartica. How bout them animals? Is there anything exctiting wit dat. Well I think I'm going to go but you take care.

Tyler,

Thanks for your question and your weird closing. Your question is a good one and I have wondered for a while why there is less publicity about the ozone hole over the Arctic than over Antarctica. I had two thougths, one that the hole over the Antarctic was studied first so it remains the best studied example. Two, the Artic ozone hole, from what I have read, seems to be less consistent than the one over Antarctica. I did find a pretty good synopsis of the problem at:

For a more detailed explanation I consulted Colin Baird's Environmental Chemistry. This is availble online and for Concord High Students it is available in room e330.
