Hi Claire. It is nice to hear from you. The KISS building is in Kangerlussauq, Greenland. There are a lot of rooms for people to sleep in. They also have a laundry room, restrooms with showers, and a kitchen. It is also the office for VECO Polar Resources. They are the nice people that let me borrow warm and fuzzy clothes. Kangerlaussauq is near the west coast of Greenland. Summit (which is on the ice sheet and which is the place we are now) is a 2.5 hour flight from Kangerlussauq. That is why we can't sleep there when we are at Summit.

At Summit, we do have a few heated buildings. However, the more heated buildings you have, the more pollution that gets in the air from the diesel fuel that burns to power the generators. Since we are trying to study the particles in the air, we don't want to put any more particles in the air than are necessary.

Thanks for the question.
