That is a great question that has answers on many differnet levels. Although each village where we sampled will hopefully benefit in one way or another, the real community that has the potential, in the long run, to benefit from this research is the global community. If people worldwide can begin to understand how global warming can affect all sorts of differnet Earth systems, the world as a whole will benefit with this knowlege. The scientific communtiy will also benefit from learning more about the "fingerprint" of the river water from these rivers and oceanographers will also be very interested in this information.
Thanks for the question, Amy |
