We are in Tromso

On schedule ,10:00 am, August 30, 2005, we reached the dock in Tromso.



The pilot came onboard 6 am and guided the big red ship HEALY through the Fjords. I was at the bridge since 5 am in the morning to watch a spectacular sunrise and the activity at the bridge. It was my first time seeing Norway’s fjords. Fjords are shaped by glaciers. Higher mountain ranges with snow covered mountains and a small green band of farmland at the waterline made seeing Norway for the first time a wonderful experience. Activities like packing the science materials, cleaning up the rooms, unloading equipment, loading fresh fruit for the Healy started immediately.


Fresh food got delivered to the Healy

Liberty was announced for the afternoon meaning everybody off duty could leave the ship and explore Tromso. We will have our last unofficial science meeting at the SKARVEN.
