i think that it was cool you got to see a bear. if i were you i would have shot it and cut it up. were you scared or excited?

I'm glad you thought the bear was cool. It was cool thinking about in hindsight. However, at the time I was very scared. I didn't have the knowledge or ability to do anything but the things that I had been taught to stay safe around bears which included clapping my hands and saying "hey bear" and trying to look big. That did the trick this time, and although it is very fun to see wildlife at a distance in the wild, it is also important to remember that it is wildlife--and is not used to human contact/interaction, which is a good thing.
