July 26, 2006 Part II Helicopter Ride
Morning Temperature 65, Rainy
Afternoon Temperature 78, Sunny
Day 3 of the Pluck

Did I mention I rode in a helicopter? I have never done this before and was quite excited. Before you are allowed to go into the helicopter you are given a full safety talk which includes topics such as:

Where the survival gear is stored
Where the satellite phone is located
Location of the fire extinguisher
Head phones and how to work them
Doors and how to open and close them
Seatbelts and how to strap them on
NEVER, EVER walk behind the helicopter--there is a propeller back there

In the morning, I rode in the back and it was raining so my pictures where not so good. I rode to the site with a husband and wife film crew that was making a commercial for the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. They wanted to film Cody doing his research.

But, in the afternoon it was very clear and pretty outside and I GOT TO RIDE IN THE FRONT WITH THE PILOT!

Okay, I admit it. I was a little excited

The trip was very short, but I did get a few pictures on the way:

Another great day at Toolik!
