Hey! Its Leo from back in B'ham,
I was wondering if I could get a little background on the human history in the Kuril Islands. Everything I've read has been fairly vague on the archaeological and historical specifics of the islands. The University of Washington and the Intern. Kuril Islands Project have some info, but they are still quite vague. Is there more info out there, or do we truly not know that much about the human history there?

And, Misty, you're not missing much as far as the weather back here!

Leo
I will see if I can find out some more later today, but I think that one
of the reasons that we are on this expedition is to fill in some of
those gaps. I also think that there probably IS more information, but
it is only available in books and that they are probably in Russian or
Japanese. Some of the people here are archaeologists that have studied
this for quite some time (along with other things). Today we are having
a science meeting, I will see if I can find some contacts and include
more information in my Journal as I learn it.

Thanks!
Misty
