What type of information are you trying to get from sampling lakes and rivers?
Dear Casey,
We were actually only sampling rivers in this project. The information that we were trying to get it to learn more about the chemical composition of the rivers. In order to do that, samples of the water have been collected from the rivers for the past five years. These samples are then analyzed and labs so that the water is given something like a fingerprint, or something that will help scientists and oceanographers figure out where the water goes in the Arctic Ocean once it leaves the rivers. The PARTNERS scientists want to get this information so that they can predict better what affecs the increased temperatures in the world might have on the ocean currents.
Great question,
Amy
