Dear Brandon,
You asked a good question, but in all honesty, I didn't get to choose the project that I worked on. When I signed up as a teacher to do TREC, I mostly was signing up to have the experience of working with a scientist and gaining a better understanding of what real scientific research is like. However, I had the good fortune to get matched up with a project that I have become very interested in, the fresh water in Arctic rivers. I have learned so much about water chemistry and how the increased global temperatures can affect these rivers and hence the oceans of the world. I find it all very facinating and I am very happy to have gotten matched up with this project and Max and his research team.
