Up to this point, the weather has been fairly good. That is, until this morning. During the evening, a cold mass of air descended upon the camp bringing bone chilling winds and disorientating fog. Each member of the team wore layers of clothing and leaned into the gusting winds as they made their way to the center of camp – the half dome eight-man tent.

When the tenth member of the team squeezed through the tent opening, we sat and waited for the weather to clear. The weather never cleared, it just got worse. As the rains continued to pound on the camp, a few people attempted to get a little field work done. They returned shortly after departing covered in mud. The bluffs had become dangerously slippery.

Two days have passed and the weather is just beginning to improve. Each person uses the down time differently. Some catch up on some much needed rest. Others take inventory of camp supplies. An ambitious trio led by Dave set up gill nets on the river to try and catch some fish. I hope tomorrow we are able to get back to the quarry.
