Hi Tracy:

What is the camp like? Are you living in a tent and cooking over a campfire? or are you living in an igloo? tongue.gif

Julian,

Hello! That is a super question. There are people living in all types of different shelters at Toolik Lake Research Station. Some people live in tents, campers, weatherports, and modular buildings. I am residing in a modular building.

You will not see an igloo in the summer in Alaska. People rarely build igloos, because they take an enormous amount of time to construct. They may build a partial igloo - blocks of ice as walls then place a tent inside of it to keep out the harsh winds. Also, igloos are temporary shelters not permanent.

Thanks for your question,
Tracy
