Is the living environment different on clean ice tne dirty ice?

That might be a better question for the polar bears! biggrin.gif

Seriously though, when we say "dirty" ice, we don't mean it's polluted or anything, it just has some sediment like sand or pebbles trapped in it from where it was originally on land, and then came of like part of a glacier or broke away from the icepack surrounding a shore or scrapping the bottom. It's not usually a really large area of this type of ice, so the living conditions wouldn't really be different whether it was dirty ice or pure ice. I guess it WOULD make a difference if you wanted to melt it for water though!
