Thurs Aug 11

Went out today with a group collecting samples of water from all the small tributaries that enter the river in the area between the glacier and the river. The geochemistry of each of these small streams will be examined to see if they have some characteristic that makes each one unique. Air temperatures were in the high 30's with a driving wind and drizzle at times. A group went back up on the glacier measure ablation, one group worked on lake profiles and set up sediment traps that will remain in the lake all winter and one did pebble counts. We came back to the field station with a lot of samples and data once again. It is going to quite a task packing up all this stuff and bringing it back.
