Hi Mrs. Kaden! This is Veronica Lucio. I was one of your very first students when you came to the US from Germany. Andreas and I were in band together. Remember me, now? I'm a friend of Ken Erickson's as well. WE work together at BCF Church. Well, Ken and I are very proud of you and are so excited to read your updates. We are praying for you and your family! Guess who my neighbor is? Gabriel? She's a teacher from Germany as well and says you both are good friends! smile.gif What a small world! Well, I'm proud of you!!!! Sincerely, Veronica

Hi Veronica,
Thanks for your kind words and prayers. They sure helped – we completed a very successful cruise for the history books.
I am back in Brownsville since the 6th of October and have now time to read over the journal entries. During my time on the ship being that far North we had no Internet connection and limited iridium based communication and e-mail capacity.
I hope we can meet. I would love to talk to your church community about the research cruise HOTRAX 2005, my experiences and share with you all the beauty of the Arctic regions. Greetings to Ken and his family.

Yours,
Ute

Hi Ute,
I don't know if you remember me - we were on the PhysLab workshop in Portland, Oregon together some 5 years ago (the short bearded guy from NY!) Wow, it is so funny to just stumble across you here! One of my fellow teachers here in NY (Bob Oddo) went on an expedition with TREC last year so I was looking through the site - and found your page. I am glad to see you are still having adventures!
Take care,
Paul
