This morning the weather turned brutally cold as the wind picked up speed. The cold driving rain and high winds dictated much of what we did today.

In the morning we drilled into the rock to place an expansion bolt that we anchored an antenna to. The antenna is part of a remote sensing system that will allow us to measure the movement of the rocks and soils.

We also are using remote sensing and gps, global positioning satellites, to map and measure the vegetation stripes.

In the afternoon we tested the photosythetic abilities of two high arctic shrubs, dryas and salix.
