Brownsville prepares for Hurricane Emily I am in Alaska and at home at the Gulf coast trouble is brewing. My hometown Brownsville is in the path of hurricane Emily! We have had some close calls in the past 5 years, never as close as this one. The Kaden family is preparing for the hurricane! Rule#1- secure your windows, board up the house! The door is closed! Advice how to contact people inside Michael and Andy after hurricane prep Lets hope for the best and prepare for the worst. People at home and in Mexico my thoughts and prayers are with you. Up date: July 19, 2005 "A HURRICANE WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE LOWER TEXAS COAST FROM PORT MANSFIELD SOUTHWARD TO THE TEXAS/MEXICO BORDER. A HURRICANE OR TROPICAL STORM WARNING MEANS THAT HURRICANE OR TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS...RESPECTIVELY...ARE EXPECTED WITHIN THE WARNING AREA WITHIN THE NEXT 24 HOURS. PREPARATIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY SHOULD BE RUSHED TO COMPLETION." Courtesy weather cannel How do I get the information? I am in Whittier, AK, http://whittierforum.yukontel.com/index.htm parking in front of sportsman historical bar now also called Internet bar. The bar is closed in the morning but the wireless internet connection can be picked up outside after some trial and error location exploration with my Laptop. You can see I am very nervous about what Emily will do. To learn more about hurricanes check out the Hurricane WebQuest Ute |

Ute that is very scary to see a hurricane coming towards your home! Reminds me of last summer when Fairbanks, AK had all the fires and we had to get ready for an evacuation. Nature is truly powerful. I haven't heard the news lately - but did the hurricane hit - what is the status at home?
I have this great image of you sitting outside the bar in Whittier with your laptop! You need to get a picture! Best to you and your family! Janet |
