Mystery Meat in the Mess Deck!!!

Today, we had a very special snack! Gay Sheffield, an energetic worker at The Alaska Department of Fish & Game, brought a special gift 4 Captain Dan, which he willingly shared. This gift was a fresh piece of walrus! When asked afterwards,she says that it was a present from somone on Gambell. I personally tried it, and thought it had an intresting taste. I was one of the first people, so I didn't get the message that you were supposed to dip it in salt. Poor Patty!!!! She must have been the second person to try it. Later, she found walrus hairs in her teeth, even though you wern't supposed to eat the hairs!!! After the snack, most people decided to have candy or soda! Gay was thrilled that sooo many people wanted to try a local dish!!!
