Sorry for the Delay - Setting up new connection to the Internet

Off to Kapp Linne and Isfjord Radio

We all were up early this morning to the trip this morning out to our field site. After being a week in Longyearbyen, we were ready to go. We were suppose to sail on the Polaris but there was a last minute change and we sailed on the M S Oden. Three groups were loaded onto the boat. A UNIS biology class, the UNIS geology group who we have been working with and our group. We sailed for about 1 ½ hours and then left the biology group off at a remote location down the fiord. Then we were off to Kapp Linne and the facility we were staying at Isfjord Radio. Some people took in the sites on the deck while others read and slept down below. Our journey up the fiord took about 3 hours and was a lot of fun.

We arrived at Isfjord radio in the late afternoon . It took about an hour to unload all of our gear and get settled in. After a great salmon dinner, we a local archeologist from the governors office gave a very entertaining and informative talk on whaling in this area.
Tomorrow, we are going to learn a little more about this area from the archeologist.
