[COLOR=red] Hey Crumrine!! biggrin.gif How are you doing in Alaska? Thanks for this awesome final!! jk.. but yeah I am very interested in your journal entries because you sound like you are having a good time and learning a lot. I cannot believe that it is warmer in Alaska than it is here in CTown. That is so unfair because it better not rain on graduation!! ohmy.gif mad.gif
Anyways, I remember learning about permafrost and you have a lot of thoughts and facts about that and I am wondering if there is a positive way to fix this problem and to allow people to continue to live on the land that is being affected by warmer weather and high levels of permafrost? Good luck on your studies!!! We miss you Crumrine!!

Rachel,

Good question. As far as I know the way the ice has changed around the island of Shishmaref has created a situation where that island is erroding away. I don't know what can be done to fix that problem.

For land dwellers I suppose that people could move to areas that don't have permafrost but that would be expensive. If you have a ruined house that was torn apart by permafrost it would be hard to raise the money to buy a new house somewhere else.

I hope it doesn't rain for your graduation. I'm betting it will be HOT.
