Description: I took this picture during my observation of the coring operations. It was ironic that I had just finished explaining on the TREC website that even though the scenery here doesn’t change a lot, you can still view the same thing in different ways. It was ironic, because this picture ended up being an example of just that; While I was taking this shot of pressure ridges in the ice that I had seen so many times before, it occurred to me at that point that the movement of ice, and the resulting pressure ridges, probably serves as a fairly good model of plate tectonics on a smaller scale.
