My name is Bob Oddo and I have been teaching high school science for the last 19 years at Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, New York. I teach mostly biology and environmental science but also have taught student research and German. I like to hike, kayak, mountain bike, ski, and travel to really remote places.
I will be traveling this summer to Svalbard Island to work with two college professors and six undergraduate students who will be collecting cores of sediments from lakes and fiords to look at changes in the climate over the last century. If you are wondering where Svalbard Island is, check out the map below. It is about 400 miles north of the mainland of Norway and is part of Norway. How does one get to Svalbard? On July 11th, I will be flying from Boston to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Oslo, Norway and then from Oslo to Tromso, which is way on the northern tip of the mainland of Norway and then from Tromso to Longyearbyen. See map below. So hopefully you will check back occasionally and post some questions. |
