Hi Matt, Chalsee (that's an unusual name!), and James:
The blocks of snow are probably about 20-40 pounds each, depending on who cut them. Because it is so cold and dry here, snow is less dense than it would be in a warmer, wetter place like the U.S. and so the same size block of wetter snow, like at Mammoth Mountain, would weigh more. They sure felt heavy after moving them around all day! The wind CAN blow at gale forces, even in the summer here (now), but we have been lucky so far with fairly light winds. I am having the time of my life! |
