Good morning Leslie and Brian. Enjoyed your interview this morning. Have you been listening to KBRW out there? You are not to far from the Edwardsen fish camps on the Chipp River. Edith and I honeymooned at Chipp 1 30 years ago next month. We spent a week out there and we really enjoyed it. Are you seeing any species of birds out there that normally don't come this far north? I have a pair of barn swallows enjoying their nest under the little ledge above my garage door. First time I have ever seen them this far north. Good luck and we will see you when you get back to Barrow.

Hi Jim!
Happy Anniversary to you and Edith! We haven't seen any unusual species, but we expected to see more birds than we are seeing. Here's the list of birds that we've seen so far: Snow Geese Tundra Swan Brant White-fronted geese Arctic tern Sandpiper (don't know which one) Pacific Loon Long-tailed Ducks Pintails Common Eiders Lapland Longspur Red-necked Phalarope Glaucous-winged Gull Sabine's Gull Long-tailed Jaeger Parasitic Jaeger Dunlin Golden Plover I'll have to come by and take a look at your barn swallow's nest when I get back to Barrow. Oh, and, our radio isn't picking up KBRW, don't know why. Thanks for writing! Leslie |

What a wonderful and diverse country we have all around Barrow and across the North Slope. Thanks Leslie and Brian for involving so many teachers, students and folks in this work and experience. Best wishes and hope you can always get Chicago Cubs games, or at least scores, out in the field. Earl and Chris and Avu and Nuna |
