Hello Mrs. Nikula,
Thanks for the answers to all my questions.
Sounds like the Gipanis will be a relatively large boat to fit all the gear and people that will be on it.
Yea, I was guessing something that had to do with the Cold War was involved with not being allowed to take satellite phones into Russia.
So, are you using the satellite phone for journal entries and posts now, just to get some practice with using the satellite phone??
Well, i'll be checking back later to read about your first day on the Kuril Islands!!

Hope all is well,
Chris

Chris
I found out last week that the Gipanis is a 50 meter ship, which is big (more than twice as big as the Carlyn), but not THAT big for all of the people that will be on it!
I am not using a satellite phone for posts now, since we had to return the phone to the people that we rented it from. I am just using my computer at home (it's faster, too). I will be using it later this week! biggrin.gif
Tomorrow I will spend the whole day travelling and will get to Russia on Thursday their time and Wednesday night your time. It will take a bit to get settled and what not so look for my posts to begin on Thursday or Friday your time at the earliest!
