Why did you pick up the straggling gosling.

Hi Julian,

The little straggling gosling was getting more and more tired. This gosling was very small, much smaller than the other goslings in the flock. It was well behind the rest of the snow geese from the beginning of when we started to herd them. It starting resting more and more, falling farther and farther behind. We didn't want to leave it behind and have it lose its parents. That would have meant certain death as the goslings are not able to fight off predators very well. And, if we slowed down on herding the rest of the flock, some of the other geese would head off in the wrong direction. So, I hopped out of the helicopter and carried it into the pot for the last few hundred feet.
