I've learned a lot from working on this project. First, I've learned what it is like to be a research scientist working in the Arctic. It is pretty neat. Second, I've learned a lot about global warming and how the increased temperatures that we are seeing world wide can have affects on lots of different Earth systems. I used to think that the global temperatures increasing just meant the world would be hotter and that maybe in Vermont we wouldn't get as much snow, but from working on this project I have learned that there are lots of other implications, like ocean currents changing and shifting, which could actually cause a cooling in western Europe. I also have learned that science can be really fun--I actually already knew that because I love teaching science, but I never got to experience it like I did when I worked in the Russia, Canada and Alaska the last two summers.

Thanks for asking,
Amy
