May 20, 2006 - We left Decatur, Georgia this afternoon. It was a beautiful sunny day. Here is our travel schedule for the next two days.
Saturday (today): We fly to Albany, New York and spend the night in Schenectady, New York. Sunday – We must get up at 4:30 a.m. to go to Stratton Air Base. There, we check in, get a briefing, and fly to Kangerlussauq, Greenland on a C-130 aircraft. We will get ear plugs to protect our ears from the loud sound of the engines. When we land in Kangerlussauq, Greenland, I will get my cold weather gear. I hope I don’t look like a big marshmallow man wearing my parka. Monday – We fly to Summit, Greenland. I can’t wait to tell you how it feels to be on a plane as it lands on the snow and ice. So long for now. I need to get my sleep. |
