The project started more or less the day I got the scholarship. This was in the beginning of Mars. Before that I had nothing to do with any science in the Arctic more than just a common interest.

I wrote an application for TREC (Teachers & Researchers Exploring & Collaborating) in December 2004. I got the conformation for the project from ARCUS (Arctic Research Consortium) in February. Since that time I work on the project. We had a planning meeting and safety training in Fairbanks, AK in April/May at the ARCUS office, conference calls, e-mail, web conferencing...to support all the logistics and preparations for the project.
